conjugation.preterite.irregular-i-j-stems
Strong preterites in i and j: hice, quise, vine, dije, traje
Same unstressed endings as the u-stems, with i-stems (hic-, quis-, vin-) and j-stems (dij-, traj-, -duj-). J-stems drop the i in the third plural: dijeron, trajeron, condujeron.

Erklärung
The second half of the strong-preterite family: hacer → hice (with hizo in the third singular, z for spelling), querer → quise, venir → vine; and the j-stems decir → dije, traer → traje, plus every verb in -ducir → -duje (conducir → conduje, traducir → traduje).
All take the same endings as the u-stems: -e, -iste, -o, -imos, -isteis. The j-stems differ in one spot: third plural -eron instead of -ieron — dijeron, trajeron, produjeron.
Derived verbs follow their base: deshacer → deshice, prevenir → previne, atraer → atraje. The imperfect subjunctive inherits everything: hiciera, dijera, condujera.
